vCIO / Technical Account Manager
This is a home-based position with regular travel throughout the assigned territory in Columbia, MO. Travel by car up to four days per week is required.
Position SummaryThe vCIO / Technical Account Manager serves as the primary strategic point of contact for clients and is responsible for developing and maintaining long-term technology partnerships. This individual will take the time to understand each client’s business objectives and technology needs, providing strategic guidance and recommendations that align technology investments with business goals.
This role is responsible for developing technology budgets, creating strategic roadmaps, identifying opportunities to reduce business risk, and recommending technology improvements. While this is not a traditional sales role, the ideal candidate should be comfortable presenting technology strategies, recommending solutions, and helping clients move forward with projects. There is also an opportunity to contribute to business growth through identifying new opportunities within existing client relationships, with additional compensation available through bonuses and commissions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary strategic technology advisor for assigned clients.
- Conduct regular onsite Technology Business Reviews and document meetings, recommendations, and project updates.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular onsite visits, phone calls, and email communication.
- Develop, maintain, and execute strategic technology roadmaps for assigned clients.
- Present technology recommendations and project proposals to business and executive stakeholders.
- Align technology initiatives with each client’s business goals and long-term objectives.
- Develop and manage client technology budgets.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction while serving as a trusted advisor.
- Contribute to technology standards, best practices, and process improvements.
- Create and maintain documentation for internal tools, processes, and operational procedures.
- Deliver accurate reporting and metrics related to client engagements and project status.
- Maintain current knowledge of supported technologies and industry best practices.
- Provide regular project updates to leadership.
- Promote quality assurance standards and operational excellence across client engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience presenting, recommending, and helping clients implement IT solutions.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, servers, cloud technologies, and business applications.
- Experience supporting network, server, and endpoint operating systems.
- Excellent organizational, project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.
- Professional, consultative approach with strong client-facing presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience supporting Microsoft operating systems.
- Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or client-facing IT consulting environment.
- Experience developing technology roadmaps, IT budgets, and long-term strategic plans.
- Familiarity with K-12, public sector, or multi-site organizations is a plus.
