The HT Group is partnering with an established life, accident & health insurance company to find a Valuation Manager! This person will be responsible for managing a team of valuation staff, overseeing monthly statutory financial reporting, and leading large-scale projects. We are looking for an experienced leader with 8+ years of actuarial experience, preferably in life insurance or LTC. *Must have ASA designation and be a member of the American Academy of Actuaries to be considered*

North Austin TX (Hybrid) | $150-175k base | Direct Hire 
 
Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide technical oversight for a team of 3–6 actuarial staff, including mentoring, assigning, and reviewing work
  • Manage actuarial analysis and modeling for reserves, premium calculations, and product design
  • Oversee team performance, development, and staffing decisions (hiring, coaching, performance reviews)
  • Direct monthly valuation process and ensure timely, accurate reporting and audit compliance
  • Prepare actuarial components of financial reports in line with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
  • Provide actuarial input for financial statements, tax filings, and risk assessments
  • Serve as a key contact for internal and external audit teams
  • Review and approve reserve calculations and non-forfeiture values for new and existing products
  • Lead large-scale projects and continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Drive enhancements to financial reporting frameworks and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensure proper documentation of actuarial analyses and decisions
  • Analyze pricing adequacy, rate indications, and product profitability
  • Monitor changes in state and NAIC regulatory requirements
  • Use advanced Excel and programming tools to analyze and manipulate complex datasets

 
Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related
  • Must have ASA designation
  • Must be a member of the American Academy of Actuaries
  • 8+ years of relevant actuarial experience, preferably in life insurance or LTC
  • Advance experience in modeling, programming, and quantitative analysis
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present statistical information to leadership
