Unified Communications / VoIP Engineer (Hybrid | Austin, TX)

We are seeking an experienced Unified Communications Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise collaboration environment built on Cisco voice and communication technologies. This role will provide technical leadership, engineering support, and operational ownership of a highly available voice infrastructure supporting multiple business locations and critical communications services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, administration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of enterprise voice and collaboration systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of Cisco collaboration platforms and telephony services.
  • Configure and support SIP trunking, session border controllers, and voice gateway infrastructure.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, business continuity initiatives, and voice security best practices.
  • Monitor platform health, investigate vulnerabilities, and resolve production incidents.
  • Participate in solution design, technical reviews, risk assessments, and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Provide escalation support and mentorship to other technical team members.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure voice services remain secure, compliant, and highly available.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting Cisco Unified Communications environments.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
    • Cisco Unity Connection
    • Cisco Emergency Responder (CER)
    • SIP trunking
    • Cisco CUBE
    • Dial plans, route patterns, and call routing design
  • Experience troubleshooting SIP, SCCP, and SRST environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-site voice deployments and carrier integrations.
  • Knowledge of QoS design and voice traffic optimization.
  • Understanding of Cisco networking fundamentals including routing, switching, and voice integration.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly available enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Webex Calling, Webex Contact Center, or hybrid collaboration experience.
  • SD-WAN experience supporting voice and collaboration traffic.
  • Experience with Meraki wireless and Cisco ISE.
  • Familiarity with Kurmi, Variphy, RTMT, and UC reporting tools.
  • Automation experience using Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Ribbon, AudioCodes, or other SBC platforms.
  • Exposure to regulated environments and security/compliance requirements.
  • Cisco Collaboration, Networking, or Security certifications.
