Tech Ops Leader (Microsoft)

We are seeking a seasoned Tech Ops Leader (Microsoft) to lead the evolution of our hybrid cloud environment.  You’ll be pivotal in designing, implementing, and optimizing our use of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and related cloud technologies. This is an opportunity to drive infrastructure transformation, mentor our talented team, and play a key role in delivering a secure, performant, and scalable technology backbone for our 600-person organization.

This is permanent direct hire opportunity. We are not able to sponsor or transfer a work VISA. 

 ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Leadership

  • Design, implement, and manage our hybrid cloud environment, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises systems and cloud services.
  • Oversee daily operations of our technology infrastructure, providing guidance and escalation support to our team.
  • Drive budgeting, vendor management, and infrastructure roadmap development in support of business goals.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering knowledge sharing, and ensuring adherence to best practices.

Cloud Transformation

  • Plan and execute cloud migration projects, ensuring efficient and secure data and workload transitions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and emerging technologies, aligning them with our business needs.
  • Conduct infrastructure assessments to identify optimization opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with our CISO and security operations team to ensure infrastructure designs incorporate security principles and align with compliance requirements.

 Must-Have Technical Expertise (Advanced-Level)

  • Microsoft Azure: Deep proficiency in core services (compute, networking, storage, etc.), architecture design, and optimization, including Azure VMs and Azure Files.
  • Microsoft Identity, Device Management & Data Governance: Mastery of Entra ID (identity, governance), Intune (endpoint management), Purview (data governance).
  • Microsoft Collaboration & Communication: Comprehensive understanding of Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: In-depth knowledge of Veeam and Azure Backup solutions.
  • Network Infrastructure: Strong Cisco/Cisco Meraki expertise (firewalls, switches, wireless) in distributed environments, including advanced routing (BGP).
  • Virtualization: Extensive experience with VMware vSphere and VMware VSAN.
  • Storage: Familiarity with Dell PowerVault ME5 Arrays and QNAP QuTS.
  • VPN: In-depth knowledge of PFSense and OpenVPN for secure remote access.
  • eCommerce & Web: Experience with Shopify eCommerce and WordPress (WP Engine) hosting and management.

 Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Deep subject matter experience in Microsoft cloud architecture and strategy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 certifications (preferred).
  • Proven experience in hybrid cloud environments, infrastructure design, and project management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
