The HT Group is hiring a Rotating Equipment Engineer for a new facility in Orange, TX. This role will support the design, startup, and ongoing operation of the plant, focusing on equipment reliability and performance. Early responsibilities include commissioning and startup support, transitioning into day-to-day reliability and maintenance oversight post-startup.
Responsibilities:
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture across all site personnel, contractors, and vendors.
- Support commissioning and startup through operational readiness activities, system walkdowns, PSSRs, and vendor acceptance testing.
- Assist with post-startup licensor guarantees and reliability testing.
- Develop and implement inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance plans for rotating equipment per industry standards.
- Lead failure analysis and reliability initiatives to reduce equipment downtime.
- Provide troubleshooting support and recommend repairs and component upgrades through the MOC process.
- Create and approve repair procedures with appropriate quality control measures.
- Support turnarounds with technical guidance on equipment overhauls and repairs.
- Serve as the point of contact for Meridium system implementation and use.
- Manage condition monitoring programs, including oil and vibration analysis.
- Conduct root cause investigations for rotating equipment failures.
- Review BOMs and advise on spare part inventory and stocking strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a petrochemical/refining setting.
- Strong experience with rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, screw), and steam turbines.
- Familiar with industry codes and mechanical standards (API, ASME, ANSI).
- Skilled in condition monitoring and preventive/predictive maintenance planning.
- Able to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in petrochemical or refining, with background in olefins production.
- Proficient in vibration analysis of complex rotating equipment; Certified Vibration Analyst.
- Experienced with SAP S4, Meridium APM, FMEA, and infrared thermography.
- Trained RCA facilitator with contractor coordination experience.
