Project Manager – Manufacturing
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the project controls capability within its Project Management Office (PMO). The successful candidate will provide an integrated view of program schedule, cost, risk, commitments and delivery performance across internal teams, vendors and strategic suppliers. They will own the integrated program schedule and PMO reporting cadence, ensuring senior leadership has accurate and timely information to assess progress, identify issues and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
PMO and Project Controls

  • Own and maintain the integrated programme schedule using appropriate scheduling and project controls software.
  • Lead and continuously improve the PMO reporting and controls framework.
  • Maintain programme milestones, dependencies, actions, risks and decisions.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs and executive reporting.
  • Prepare weekly PMO reports and management information.
  • Ensure programme information is accurate, current and aligned across internal teams, vendors and strategic suppliers.

Vendor and Supplier Coordination

  • Work directly with vendors and strategic suppliers to obtain schedule and progress updates.
  • Integrate supplier plans, milestones and commitments into the overall programme schedule.
  • Review and appropriately challenge progress information, assumptions and forecast dates.
  • Maintain visibility of supplier commitments, dependencies and delivery performance.
  • Support PMO meetings by providing accurate information and ensuring agreed actions and decisions are documented and followed through.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Produce concise weekly programme status reports for senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain practical dashboards that support executive decision-making.
  • Analyse schedule performance, trends, dependencies and emerging delivery risks.
  • Support scenario planning, impact assessments and schedule-recovery activities.
  • Maintain visibility of programme costs and forecasts alongside schedule and delivery performance.

Systems and Tools

  • Use suitable scheduling and project controls software to manage the integrated programme schedule.
  • Use Excel and other analytical tools to evaluate programme data and produce management reporting.
  • Operate and improve project controls, reporting and information-management tools as the PMO develops.
  • Work with relevant systems and software platforms to improve programme visibility and reporting.

Measures of Success

  • A current, credible and fully integrated programme schedule covering internal teams, vendors and strategic suppliers.
  • Clear visibility of programme milestones, dependencies, commitments, costs and risks.
  • Accurate and timely weekly PMO and executive reporting.
  • Early identification and escalation of schedule, cost and delivery issues.
  • Reliable progress information and clear accountability for commitments across vendors and suppliers.
  • Consistent operation and continuous improvement of the PMO and project controls capability.

Candidate Requirements

  • Eight to ten years of experience in project controls, PMO or programme management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and improving a PMO or project controls function.
  • Strong experience with scheduling and project controls software.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards and programme reports.
  • Experience coordinating multiple vendors, contractors and strategic suppliers.
  • Experience supporting complex engineering, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure or comparable delivery programmes.
  • Good understanding of scheduling, risk, cost and change control.
  • Strong organisational, stakeholder-management and communication skills.
  • Confidence in challenging information constructively and driving follow-through across multiple organisations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving and evolving environment.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • A recognised project management or project controls qualification, such as PMP, AACE or PMI-SP, is desirable.
