Entry-Level IT Systems Engineer
Location: Portland, OR (On-site)

We are seeking an Entry-Level IT Systems Engineer to join a collaborative enterprise infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate or early-career IT professional with internship or co-op experience who is looking to build a career supporting enterprise IT systems. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced infrastructure engineers supporting enterprise environments across on-premises infrastructure, virtualization, Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, and backup solutions. You’ll receive hands-on mentorship while gaining experience with enterprise-class technologies in a large, global organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration and support of enterprise server and compute infrastructure.
  • Support virtualized environments hosting critical business applications.
  • Help administer Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, endpoint management, and systems monitoring tools.
  • Assist with enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Support Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud initiatives.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and respond to system alerts.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, virtualization, and infrastructure issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform server patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Network, and Application teams on enterprise initiatives.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity planning.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal support teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation after completing onboarding and training.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0–3 years of IT experience, including internships, co-ops, or relevant academic projects.
  • Foundational knowledge of Windows Server and Microsoft operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals.
  • Exposure to virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V through coursework, internships, or professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn new technologies and develop technical expertise.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or co-op experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure through coursework, certifications, labs, or internships.
  • Exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, or enterprise networking.
  • Experience with PowerShell or Python scripting.
  • Entry-level Microsoft, VMware, or cloud certifications.
  • Basic understanding of enterprise backup, storage, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or operational technology environments.
