IT Systems Engineer – Disaster Recovery & InfrastructureLocation: Chaska, MN (Onsite)
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team in Chaska, Minnesota. This role will serve as a key technical resource responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting highly available enterprise infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity, Backup & Recovery, and Infrastructure Resiliency.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience developing and maintaining enterprise disaster recovery strategies, supporting backup and replication technologies, leading recovery testing, and ensuring critical business systems remain available in the event of outages or disasters.
In addition to disaster recovery responsibilities, this engineer will support enterprise virtualization, Microsoft infrastructure, hybrid cloud platforms, and infrastructure modernization initiatives while partnering with Architecture, Security, Network, Application, and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity initiatives across enterprise infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise disaster recovery strategies and recovery procedures.
  • Administer enterprise backup, replication, recovery, archive, and disaster recovery platforms utilizing Cohesity.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning, documentation, testing exercises, and recovery validation to ensure business continuity objectives are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) for critical systems.
  • Coordinate infrastructure recovery efforts during planned testing and production incidents.
  • Implement, administer, maintain, and support Cisco HyperFlex and Cisco UCS infrastructure.
  • Administer VMware vSphere and ESXi environments supporting mission-critical enterprise workloads.
  • Administer Microsoft infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, MECM, and SCOM.
  • Support Microsoft Azure services and hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives.
  • Perform infrastructure lifecycle management including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, performance tuning, and technology refresh activities.
  • Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, and resiliency while troubleshooting complex production issues.
  • Lead or participate in infrastructure modernization, migration, and operational improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, disaster recovery documentation, and infrastructure standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Security, Network, Architecture, Application, and IT teams on enterprise infrastructure initiatives.
  • Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and service providers as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting production infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions within enterprise environments.
  • Experience administering enterprise backup, replication, and recovery platforms (Cohesity strongly preferred).
  • Experience planning and executing disaster recovery testing and validating recovery procedures.
  • 5+ years administering Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure.
  • 5+ years supporting VMware vSphere and ESXi.
  • Experience supporting Cisco UCS, Cisco HyperFlex, or comparable enterprise compute platforms.
  • Experience administering Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, MECM, and SCOM.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of high availability architecture, enterprise storage, virtualization, networking, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience performing infrastructure planning, implementation, monitoring, lifecycle management, and operational support.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting critical production systems.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call support rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading enterprise Disaster Recovery programs or serving as the primary DR technical resource.
  • Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Windows Server, Active Directory, Infrastructure Administration).
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
  • Cohesity certification or significant enterprise backup experience.
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification.
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops administration experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or other large enterprise environments.
  • Experience working within global enterprise organizations.
  • Project management experience or PMP certification.
  • Understanding of application, database, and enterprise system architecture.
  • Experience integrating on-premises, hybrid cloud, SaaS, and hosted business systems.
