Director of Technology

Location: New York City or Boca, Florida

Position Overview
A growing global commercial finance organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Technology to lead its technology strategy, infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, data initiatives, and digital transformation.

This leader will partner closely with executive leadership and business teams to improve operational efficiency, modernize technology platforms, strengthen data and reporting capabilities, manage technology risk, and build a scalable environment that supports continued growth.

The ideal candidate brings broad enterprise technology leadership experience within financial services, commercial lending, fintech, or another regulated industry. This person must be equally comfortable developing a long-term technology roadmap, managing vendors and budgets, leading complex system implementations, and addressing day-to-day operational needs.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with business priorities and growth objectives.
  • Advise executive leadership on technology investments, systems optimization, cybersecurity, AI governance, operational risk, and scalability.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve reporting, streamline operations, and reduce reliance on manual processes.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies that improve business performance, security, and operational resilience.
  • Establish policies and governance standards for the responsible use of AI across the organization.
  • Clearly communicate technology strategies, risks, opportunities, project updates, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build and lead an effective technology team as organizational needs evolve.

IT Operations and End-User Support

  • Oversee the administration and lifecycle management of laptops, mobile devices, user accounts, and other end-user technologies.
  • Ensure employees receive responsive and effective first-level technical support.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for the company’s managed service provider and other technology partners.
  • Manage escalations and ensure timely resolution of infrastructure, security, systems, and end-user issues.
  • Establish IT operating standards, documentation, support procedures, and service expectations.
  • Maintain a reliable, secure, and scalable technology environment.

Lending and Enterprise Systems

  • Manage and optimize the company’s Loan Management System and related business applications.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and migration to a new enterprise lending platform.
  • Assess internally developed Excel and VBA tools and transition appropriate workflows to scalable enterprise or third-party solutions.
  • Partner with business leaders to improve processes supporting underwriting, collateral monitoring, treasury operations, portfolio management, and reporting.
  • Oversee integrations among lending systems, ERP platforms, reporting tools, banking systems, and third-party applications.
  • Provide technical leadership and services that support customer-facing SaaS products and their continued growth.

Data Analytics and Business Intelligence

  • Lead enterprise reporting, business intelligence, and data analytics initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business users and technology platforms, including Power BI, ERP, lending, and reporting systems.
  • Improve data quality, reporting accuracy, accessibility, automation, and operational visibility.
  • Support integrations across internal applications, SaaS platforms, and reporting environments.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop dashboards and reporting solutions that improve business decision-making.

Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance

  • Serve as the organization’s technology security leader and oversee its cybersecurity strategy.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, controls, monitoring procedures, and incident-response protocols.
  • Manage information security governance, technology risk, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate security initiatives with MSPs, consultants, auditors, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, system reliability, and operational resilience standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely remediation of identified risks.
  • Guide responsible AI adoption with consideration for data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

Project and Vendor Management

  • Lead enterprise technology projects from business case and planning through implementation and adoption.
  • Manage software vendors, consultants, MSPs, fintech partners, and other technology providers.
  • Lead contract negotiations, renewals, performance reviews, and service-level agreement management.
  • Establish project timelines, priorities, resource plans, budgets, success metrics, and risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure technology initiatives are delivered efficiently and remain aligned with business goals.

Financial and Budget Management

  • Develop, manage, and forecast the annual IT budget.
  • Oversee project-level budgets, technology investments, vendor costs, and licensing expenses.
  • Conduct cost-control and variance analysis while maintaining transparency with executive leadership.
  • Ensure technology spending aligns with business priorities, operational requirements, and financial targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Eight or more years of progressive technology and IT leadership experience.
  • Experience within commercial finance, specialty lending, banking, fintech, or another regulated financial-services environment is strongly preferred.
  • Broad understanding of enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, business applications, and end-user technology.
  • Experience leading software implementations, platform migrations, systems integrations, reporting initiatives, and operational technology projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments, Excel-based operational tools, Power BI, ERP platforms, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience managing MSPs, technology vendors, contracts, renewals, and service-level agreements.
  • Demonstrated budget-management experience, including forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing SaaS platforms and teams is preferred.
  • Practical understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, capabilities, risks, and limitations.
  • Ability to evaluate AI tools and vendor claims and translate them into responsible business decisions.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, and ISO 42001.
  • Strong executive communication, organizational, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to operate strategically and remain hands-on in a fast-moving environment.
