This is a hybrid position; will be required to be onsite in Austin 3x per week (Tues/Weds/Thurs). Candidates must be local to Austin, TX.
This is a 6-month contract to hire opportunity.

This role that has a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation and support of our enterprise software applications through all stages of their lifecycles. The primary responsiblities for this role are a combination of SQL Server administration, Windows Server administration, and application administration/support.

Responsibilities include: 
-The installation, configuration and support of enterprise software applications in multiple environments.
-Full support of application backends and frontends.
-Monitoring application performance.
-Optimizing application performance.
-Managing application security.
-Planning and executing application patches, upgrades and migrations.
-Incident management, triaging and root cause analysis.
-Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze system and application logs.
-Implementation of application change requests.
-Identify, design, and implement automation using PowerShell scripting.
-Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery plans.
-Creation and maintenance of technical documentation for the applications and processes.
-Application vendor support and management.
-Cross team collaboration to facilitate the implementation and support of applications.
-Deep understanding of Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server Administration.
-Good working knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Apache Tomcat web servers.
-Password management.  
 
 
Requirements (Must haves)

  • Willingness to work in a hybrid office environment: Three days in office (Austin), two days remote if desired. Normal collaboration days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • This role requires multiple skillsets for effective systems management. SQL Server administration is about 25% of the total job requirements. Server and software installation and administration are part of the daily activities.
  • Microsoft SQL Server – 2012 up to SQL 2022, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS – 5+ years.
  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems 2012 and up – Client and Server – 5+ years.
  • Microsoft Office software – 5+ years.
  • Microsoft SQL Management Studio
  • Microsoft T-SQL – 5+ years.
  • Microsoft SQL Profiler and Extended Events, other monitoring/performance tools.
  • Microsoft SQL Server troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server Availability Groups and clustering
  • Microsoft PowerShell script development and troubleshooting. – prefer at least 1-2+ years.
  • VMWare or virtual server infrastructure – 2+ years.
  • Server OS operations and patching.
  • Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Comfort with working in the MS Azure cloud.
  • Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to work in a complex production environment with multiple integrated systems.
  • Cognizant of Security and Compliance in a SOX/SOCII Production environment.
  • Occasional after-hours deployments.
  • Ability to thrive in a heavily regulated environment with strong change management.
    • (SOX, SOCII compliance, etc.)
  • Able to work solo and in a close team environment at the project and ad-hoc level.
  • Good documentation skills and the willingness to provide it.
  • Self-starter, well-disciplined is very important.
  • Good troubleshooting skills in a complex environment with 1000+ servers and 300+ SQL instances.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking workloads and sources of work.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Preferred (Nice to haves)

  • Ticketing Systems – Service Now, etc.
  • Comfort interacting with auditors and audit requests.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio familiarity.
  • Version Control experience using Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) and Azure DevOps
  • Systems monitoring software – Dynatrace, Prometheus/Grafana, Idera, Quest, etc.
  • Windows clustering/Always On configurations and maintenance – 2+ years preferred.
  • Familiarity with a financial environment, loan accounting, loan origination, etc.
  • Linux OS.
  • Understanding of APIs and their use for application integrations.
  • Docker containers.
  • Container orchestration tools such as Docker Swarm and Kubernetes.
