The HT Group has partnered with an established consulting firm based in Boston in the search for a qualified Corporate Controller (Remote/Boston Area) with previous accounting process & systems improvement experience along with crossover in FP&A and reporting facets for an immediate opportunity. Our client is looking for a self-starter with previous Controller-level experience leading teams and process in settings with large consultant or contractor populations.  This position will be remote but the firm would prefer someone residing in the Boston area for occasional leadership meetings at their corporate HQ.

What you will do:

  • Lead month/quarter/year-end close and financial reporting activities.
  • Manage the complete accounting cycle, ensuring timely financial closes and maintaining the general ledger.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of monthly P&L and financial trends, advising on cost savings and business optimizations.
  • Mentor and oversee the accounting team, including supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing critical input for cash flow management and related.
  • Manage the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, maintaining sound processes for client invoicing and vendor payments.
  • Direct financial audits and maintain trial balances, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Develop quarterly board presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related; MBA highly preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of overall accounting/finance experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Controller or large-company Assistant Controller capacity required.
  • Previous experience in a consulting firm setting or in similar sectors such as legal services, risk management, engineering or insurance services strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience creating detailed financial reporting to aid executive leadership decisions (cashflow, consultant billing projections, KPI creation)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required.
  • History of driving initiatives of continuous process improvements (close cycle, financial reporting, system-driven automation).
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy in work; and time management and organizational skills.
