The HT Group is partnering with a leading design build firm to hire a Business Development Executive (Consturction / K-12) to grow the organization’s presence within the K-12 market across Central Texas. This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-oriented sales professional who is comfortable managing complex sales cycles and building relationships with executive-level decision makers. We’re looking for someone who is strategic, personable, and highly relationship-driven. This is not a transactional sales position. The successful candidate will be comfortable spending significant time developing relationships before an opportunity turns into a formal project.
Location: Austin TX; Territory primarily covers Central Texas; Approximately 20–40% regional travel
Compensation: $100-150k base + commission
Responsibilities:
Sales Planning & Execution
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline to meet or exceed annual sales goals.
- Develop sales strategies and pre-call plans to maximize client interactions.
- Qualify opportunities and prioritize those that align with client and company objectives.
- Cultivate relationships to generate new business and expand existing accounts.
- Coordinate internal resources to effectively advance opportunities through the sales process.
- Manage opportunities from initial relationship development through contract execution.
Strategic Selling
- Develop and deliver sales presentations tailored to different buying audiences.
- Communicate industry and technical concepts effectively to decision makers and influencers.
- Identify client needs and develop strategic solutions in partnership with internal teams.
- Educate clients on opportunities to improve facility performance and achieve their goals.
- Navigate objections and differentiate the company’s solutions and approach.
- Develop compelling business cases that demonstrate the financial and operational value of proposed solutions.
Client Relationships
- Build strong relationships with superintendents, school board members, administrators, and other K-12 decision makers.
- Use thoughtful discovery to understand client needs and identify new opportunities.
- Navigate complex, committee-based buying processes.
- Build trust and credibility throughout a potentially lengthy sales cycle.
- Represent the company at client meetings, school board meetings, and industry events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- Experience with construction, energy services, HVAC, engineering, or related industries.
- 3+ years of executive-level sales experience; 5+ years of business development experience preferred.
- 3+ years of experience leading project teams.
- Experience working with / selling into K-12 school districts strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in complex, consultative sales.
- Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with internal teams.
