The HT Group is seeking an Assistant Buyer for a client based in Beaumont, TX. This role will support the Senior Buyer in all aspects of the purchasing process, including product selection, vendor communication, order placement, and inventory coordination.
This is a contract-to-hire position offering a flexible schedule within a 40-hour workweek and a pay range of $17–$21 per hour, depending on experience.
Please note: Travel is not permitted during the contract period. However, once converted to a permanent employee, occasional domestic travel will be required to attend trade shows and related events.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and review suggested order reports; create and track purchase orders
- Maintain SKU data and update inventory systems
- Review and update purchase orders based on vendor confirmations
- Communicate with vendors and share updates with internal teams
- Assist with vendor meetings and coordinate special orders or inter-store transfers
- Support warehouse receiving teams when needed
- Follow up on order issues and ensure timely resolution
- Attend regular check-ins with supervisor and support purchasing-related tasks as assigned
- Maintain regular on-site attendance per company standards
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 2 year of relevant experience in a purchasing or buyer-related role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Communicate professionally with vendors, customers, and colleagues
- Adhere to company mission and core values
- Be prepared to support essential operations during emergencies within reasonable expectations
