Austin, TX (September 6, 2013) – Hill Country Conservancy along with HT Staffing and the Rattle Inn announced today a happy hour introducing the Violet Crown Trail, a 30+ mile trail system connecting Lady Bird Lake and the Barton Creek Greenbelt south into Hays County.

The event will take place Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from 5:30 to 8pm, upstairs at one of Austin’s most popular new bars, the Rattle Inn (610 Nueces Street). Complimentary appetizers will be provided by HT Staffing and 10 percent of all sales will be donated by Rattle Inn to Hill Country Conservancy to help support the Violet Crown Trail and similar projects. Door prizes will also be given throughout the evening.

As the only professional conservation organization working every day to preserve open space in the Barton Springs Aquifer region, Hill Country Conservancy is leading the creation and completion of the Violet Crown Trail. HCC envisions the Violet Crown Trail not only promoting the use and enjoyment of open space, but also providing significant economic, environmental, health, and recreational benefits to the community while offering first-time public-access to 6,000 acres of historic ranchlands.

Mark Turpin, CEO/co-founder, HT Staffing, said, “People have asked me why the business community should be so excited about a nature trail.”   Turpin continued, “The Violet Crown Trail is much more than a path. It will be vital link between Austin’s urban and rural environments. As our business community grows, this link will be a critical part of our city’s diverse infrastructure.”

“Our continued prosperity is dependent upon a balanced approach to natural preservation and community growth,” adds Will Wheeler P.E., Hill Country Conservancy Board member and vice president of operations at Gray Engineering, Inc. “I am excited about the Violet Crown Trail and its southerly extension into some of most beautiful and diverse Hill Country.  As an avid hiker and mountain biker, I am convinced the Violet Crown Trail will become the premier trail in the region.”

The Hill Country Conservancy Happy Hour will give attendees the opportunity to support the Violet Crown Trail while meeting and mingling with the folks behind the project.

About Hill Country Conservancy

Hill Country Conservancy is the only professional conservation organization working every day to preserve open space in the Barton Springs Aquifer region. HCC was founded in 1999 to preserve – forever – large strategic natural areas that conserve critical water features, preserve outdoor recreation opportunities, and help maintain the Hill Country’s unique quality of life.
