Senior IT Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Systems Engineer to support its critical on-premises and hybrid cloud infrastructure. This position is responsible for implementing, administering, monitoring, maintaining, and supporting enterprise compute, virtualization, backup, cloud, and Microsoft platforms.

The Senior IT Systems Engineer will serve as a technical subject-matter expert and provide operational support, technical guidance, and engineering expertise for infrastructure projects. This individual will collaborate with Architecture, Security, Network, Application, and global IT teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, administer, maintain, and support Cisco HyperFlex and Cisco UCS infrastructure.
  • Administer VMware vSphere and ESXi environments supporting business-critical workloads.
  • Support Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM), and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • Manage enterprise backup, recovery, replication, archiving, and disaster recovery solutions using Cohesity.
  • Administer Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including image management, application delivery, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Support Microsoft Azure services and hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives.
  • Manage infrastructure lifecycles, including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, performance tuning, and technology refreshes.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, availability, capacity, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and production-system issues.
  • Provide technical recommendations and engineering input for infrastructure projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and international technology teams to implement solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Lead or contribute to infrastructure implementations, migrations, upgrades, and operational improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, standards, and support runbooks.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity programs.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional after-hours support for production systems and planned maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least five years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • At least five years of experience administering Microsoft server and infrastructure technologies.
  • At least five years of experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, or a comparable enterprise virtualization platform.
  • Experience administering Cisco HyperFlex, Cisco UCS, or similar converged or hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and related infrastructure services.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms; Cohesity experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with MECM and SCOM or comparable systems-management and monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
  • Strong understanding of server, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and projects with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer-service and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within distributed and global teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting production systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications related to Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, MECM, SCOM, or infrastructure administration.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or a comparable virtualization certification.
  • CCNA or a comparable networking certification.
  • Cohesity certification or advanced experience with enterprise backup platforms.
  • Citrix certification or advanced Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops experience.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience working within a global organization and collaborating with international IT teams.
  • Experience supporting complex production or operational environments.
  • Project-management experience or PMP certification.
  • Understanding of application, database, infrastructure, and systems-architecture principles.
  • Familiarity with integrating on-premises, cloud, SaaS, and externally hosted business systems.
  • Additional language skills are beneficial.
