Position: Electrical Engineer

About the Company: Our client is a state-of-the-art design-build manufacturer of acoustical equipment enclosures, fuel tanks, turbine systems, and skids. As one of the largest companies in their industry, they operate more than 750,000 square feet of manufacturing space across three states, with locations in the South, Southeast, and Mountain West.
The Role: Our client is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and oversee the integration of electrical systems for industrial enclosures and power generation equipment. You’ll bring a strong background in electrical design and AutoCAD, along with working knowledge of industry standards like NEC and NFPA.
What You’ll Do
- Design electrical systems, including schematics and diagrams, for industrial enclosures and power generation equipment
- Review job submittal packages and customer-furnished information to plan and design work, and make recommendations
- Perform panel loading calculations and balancing for load centers, panelboards, and switchboards, including wire/cable, conduit, and tray sizing
- Create Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Provide technical direction to Drafters and Designers, and coordinate work with them and the Senior Designer
- Work independently on assignments, with guidance from the Department Manager and Senior Designer on unusual or complex problems
- Partner regularly with project shop and field personnel
- Follow company safety standards and all local, state, and federal regulations
- Take on other duties as needed
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience
- Broad knowledge of electrical design and drafting techniques, including schematic and diagram generation
- Knowledge of how electrical engineering applies to plant construction methods and materials
- Working knowledge of NFPA and the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD across versions, with advanced proficiency in recent releases (AutoCAD 2024 or newer), including AutoCAD Electrical and/or Mechanical
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD or similar 3D modeling software (Revit MEP or similar)
- Experience with electrical equipment such as generators, switchgear, and UPS systems
- Experience on multi-discipline projects
- Good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols
- Ability to read and interpret contract specifications and electrical drawing packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven, with the ability to deliver on short timelines
Preferred
- Emergency power generation and switchgear installation experience, with knowledge of electrical equipment packaging
- Direct experience with structural steel building fabrication and electrical equipment packaging
- Familiarity with Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, and Schneider equipment (you’ll work with these daily), plus manufacturing knowledge
- Experience with Accubid or similar estimating software (a plus, not required)
