We are seeking a Data Engineer to support data integration, reporting, and self-service analytics initiatives. This role will partner with business stakeholders, data engineers, and architects to understand reporting needs, document existing data extracts, and develop pipelines that move data from legacy and enterprise systems into Snowflake. The ideal candidate brings strong Snowflake expertise and the ability to troubleshoot complex data flows from source systems through Power BI reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, data extract requirements, and downstream data usage.
- Reverse-engineer and document existing data extracts, transformation logic, and dependencies.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications that support reporting and future self-service analytics.
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to load and transform data in Snowflake using approved tools and frameworks.
- Partner with data engineers and architects on data modeling, database schema design, and transformation logic.
- Validate data quality and reconcile source-to-target results across mainframe, legacy, open systems, and Snowflake environments.
- Develop data conversion and system implementation plans.
- Support the creation of Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards using Snowflake as the primary data source.
- Troubleshoot data issues throughout the pipeline, from source extraction and Snowflake loading through Power BI visualization.
- Prepare technical documentation covering system specifications, data flows, processes, and dependencies, and obtain required approvals.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations related to reporting development and application enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and production support.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience, including SQL, data loading, transformations, and performance tuning.
- 4+ years of experience with ETL/ELT concepts, data pipelines, and data integration patterns.
- 5+ years of experience analyzing complex data flows and troubleshooting issues across multiple systems.
- 4+ years of experience with enterprise information management processes and methodologies, relational database management systems, and metadata management.
- 2+ years of experience working in fast-paced, changing environments, meeting project deadlines, analyzing complex information, and developing plans to resolve identified issues.
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience building effective working relationships, navigating competing priorities, negotiating among stakeholders, and resolving conflicts.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with Informatica, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, or similar data integration tools.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, business administration, or a related field.
