This global company manufactures products for the consumer and industrial markets, with an emphasis on Automotive and commercial trucking. They provide everything from materials and development to design, manufacturing, and assembly.
 
APQP Program Manager
 
Onsite – Austin, TX – $95-135K+
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Develop program execution plans under the guidelines of the APQP process. Define customer needs and expectations for assigned programs.  Establish customer milestones from design to production readiness
  • Meet and exceed the expectations of the customer representatives of the OEM and internal manufacturing departments.
  • Create and maintain a master timeline that details internal and supplier execution required to meet customer milestones. Implement adequate scheduling to allow for tooling modifications to produce a quality product that will meet or exceed customer expectations for sample submission and prototype parts delivered on time.
  • Ensure secondary tooling is defined specifically for its end use and quality performance that meets expectations for synchronous manufacturing, ergonomics, environmental and safety standards. Ensure fixtures will be quoted according to specific design standards.
  • Participate in a cross-functional team for source selection after analysis of potential suppliers has been completed.
  • Lead/participate in team activities as required for the successful execution of required action plan to launch assigned programs.
  • Participate in and present information/data as required at customer-initiated meetings.
  • Maintain an up-to-date open issues tracking report, including KPIs. Identify all action items requiring completion to successfully meet deadlines and assign follow-up responsibilities.
  • Provide cost and timing as required for all engineering changes for assigned programs. When released, follow-up and ensure changes are implemented correctly and on budget. Maintain program information sheets, B.O.M., design records and PPAP binders or equivalent.
  • Communicate status of programs on a frequent basis and retain records and document control per IATF-16949 standards.
  • Work with the Advanced Quality Manager to prepare documentation to support submission packages. All submission parts and paperwork will conform to every detail of customer requirements.  Prepare and issue complete request for quote packages to potential suppliers and complete a competitive analysis prior to awarding business.  Maintain program costs within budget.
  • Work with the customer and develop a complete analysis of the packaging standards required to deliver a quality part to our customers’ point of usage.
  • Work with assembly component suppliers and develop timelines for tooling and sample part submissions. Provide adequate timing to correct any fit and finish issues prior to PPAP submission dates of Tier II programs.
  • Participate in the training of production team members during start-up phases as required.
  • Guide and participate in departmental continuous improvement activities.
  • Support the company’s environmental, health and safety objectives which provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all employees.
  • Ensure that the department and all its activities exceed the needs of our customers, both internally and externally.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • Related work experience will be considered in place of degree
  • FMEA, SPC, Control Plan
  • MPPAP, Design for Manufacturing
  • Value Engineering/Ergonomics for Engineers

 
Required Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in design or engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in program management in a fast paced manufacturing environment; experience that includes direct interface with customer
