Technical Support Specialist

The HT Group is working with a company in Austin to recruit a Technical Support Specialist to provide all areas of computer related technical support including the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of desktops/laptops, peripherals, printers, applications software and telecommunication equipment and services. Reponsibilities will include:

  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software and hardware
  • Provide onsite hardware and software support for local and remote offices
  • Image and install user workstations, ensuring the correct installation of cables, operating systems and appropriate software
  • Provide training to end users on basic computer usage, applications software and telephone systems
  • Manage small to medium sized projects
  • Monitor the daily performance of computer systems
  • Prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades
  • May require after hours telephone support and on-call availability

Knowledge, Skills & Abiliites:

  • High school diploma or GED, plus post-secondary education or technical training in IT
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check and driving record
  • 3+ years of technical support experience with strong knowledge of IT applications, processes, software and hardware
  • Experience with Remote Access technologies [RDS]
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products to include Visio and Project
  • LAN and VPN Knowledge
  • (Preferred) Industry certifications (i.e. CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCTS, MCITP)
  • Physically able to carry and lift basic computer equipment (monitors, printers, toner, keyboards, laptops, iPads, etc.) up to 10 to 15 pounds
  • Able to kneel and crouch under desks, or in small spaces to wire computers, printers, etc
  • Cooperates with team members in an open, positive and respectful manner
  • Time efficiency and high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours and possibly on weekends
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Working Conditions

The Technical Support Specialist will primarily work on site in the Austin office during regular business hours – Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Travel in and around Austin (30- 40% per year) and travel to the DFW area(10%-15% per year) is required. Occassional work on the weekends and outside of normal office hours.
