Overnight Machine Operator

The HT Group is currently hiring for an Overnight Machine Operator for our client located in San Marcos, TX. The purpose of this position is to set up, maintain and operate machinery. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire role with an alternating schedule. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, able to work 12-hour overnight shifts, is experienced in machine operation and/or is interested in learning to operate multiple machines such as the Extruder and Braider.

Type: Temp-to-hire

Pay: $13.50 during training, $14.50 once training is completed.


During Training: (day shift) Alternating schedule of M, Th, Fri 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, then Tues, Wed, Sat, Sun 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM

After Training: (overnight shift) Alternating schedule of M, Th, Fri 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, then Tues, Wed, Sat, Sun 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Responsibilities of the Machine Operator:

  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
  • Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
  • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Test operation of machines periodically
  • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
  • Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Maintain activity logs

Skills and Requirements of the Machine Operator:

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Willing and able to learn and operate multiple machines
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina and strength
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
